Piedmont Pagan Pride Day

2013 Workshops

Our Inspirations: The elements of Air, Fire, Water and Earth

airAir: Education

Air is the element of clarity and communication, therefore, education is an important
part of what
Pagan Pride is all about. We attempt each year to have classes
that will appeal to Pagans and non-pagans alike.

This year, many of our classes are reflecting the Earth element including composting,
herbs from a medicinal/ Wise Woman perspective, as well as a magical perspective.
We will also have a morning meditation, and a class comparing, and
contrasting symbolism
from different spiritual paths.

Sacred Herbs as Medicine – for Body, Mind & Spirit with Alison Holmes

allisonHerbs have been used for healing body, mind & spirit for millennia.  There was a time that it was
instinctive to nibble a berry or eat some leaves to nourish our bodies or cure a tummy ache, but in
this modern age, we have removed ourselves from Mother Earth and her green gifts of healing.
Join us in circle to learn some simple ways to incorporate sacred herbs into your daily life for
health, peace of mind and a closer connection with Spirit.

Alison Holmes of Earthen Moon and Earthen Moon Herbs studies many paths of healing including,
but not limited to herbalism, women’s health, energy healing and nourishing traditional diets.
As a lifelong student and a work (forever) in progress, she is enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge
with others so that we can all return to a more natural and healthy way of life.

1pm-2pm
Building Bridges between Belief with Jamie Allen

Spiritual beliefs and symbology are very personal and important to each of us. Jamie
Often times we allow these connections to our own path to separate us from others.
When we look deep into our beliefs how are we really different? Or are we more alike than we realize?  During this introductory workshop I will share with you the similarities I have discovered between  the Native American Medicine Wheel and the Pentacle from the Pagan path.  I will also draw correlations between other recognizable spiritual symbols from other paths  to further break down the walls that keep us separated.

Jamie Allen, of Cherokee descent, feels honored and blessed to have had the opportunity to be in ceremony  with and learn from many teachers, healers, shamans, elders and medicine people.  Through these experiences and ‘rememberings’, Jamie has developed intuitive skills to be a leader in ceremony  such as sweat lodges, fire-keeping, drum building/birthing, house blessings, energy clearing and much more.

1pm-2pm
Your Magical Kitchen with  Absinthe

KrisTen of the most common herbs and spices that you have in your kitchen also have magical properties!
Sit a spell with Absinthe while she gives insight as to how these herbs and spices can be used.

Krista Deputy, Magickal name Absinthe was born in Charlotte, NC on a Thursday; February 28th 1974.
At a very young age it was obvious to me that I was different than other children. The older I got
the more I realized  that there was something very peculiar about me. At age 12 I knew that I was a Witch  and have been every day there after. I have read many books on different paths of Wicca and Witchcraft  and have studied different religions.
I consider myself a Celtic Witch and I specialize in herb magick.
